LSU Team
We will be hosting our first Boat US Tourney on Toledo Bend out of Big Bass Marina on June 7-8, 2014. You can register on The Boat US website.

The team of Logan Mount and Adam Gotangco took second place this past weekend on Toledo Bend with a total weight of 14.38lbs. The Texas Collegiate Tournament Trail was held out of Fin and Feather resort and drew over 25 teams from both Louisiana and Texas. Logan and Adam also qualified for the TCTT championship which will be held sometime in 2014.

It was a great day for the LSU Fishing team at the FLW College Fishing event that took place at Toledo Bend. LSU earned it's first FLW victory in the event as well as having our second team place 5th. Beau Hadskey and Tad Murdock weighed in a huge 20.13lb bag of fish beating out the second place team by almost 4 pounds. Logan Mount and Brett Matherne also had great success in the tournament earning a 5th place with 12.13lbs. It was a great day for the LSU Fishing Team bringing in over $2500 in winnings and earning two spots at the Invitational Tournament in October on Sam Rayburn.

Last year in New Orleans, LSU beat Alabama in the second annual Bassmaster College Classic. The event took place on Lake Verret and LSU was able to beat Alabama decisivly. At this year's Bassmaster Classic, LSU took on both LSU Shreveport and the University of Arkansas. The three teams fished on finicky Cross Lake. During the tournament LSU was mostly power fishing and was able to bring in 18 lbs and 7 oz. It wasn't enough however to fight off a big sack by the Razorbacks, who boated 26 lbs. LSU Shreveport struggled and brought in only 2 lbs 14 oz. LSU missed out on travling to Oklahoma to compete in next year's College Classic but had a great time representing the university at the event. The Bassmaster College Classic started what will be a event filled year for the LSU Fishing team. LSU will be competing in various tournaments across Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Alabama throughout the year. We are looking forward to making 2012 the best year in LSU Fishing history.

In October the LSU Fishing Team sent a record three teams to compete in the FLW Texas Regional Championship. The even took place on Lake Somerville located in Brenham, Texas. The weigh-in's took place at College Station on the Texas A&M campus. The three day event featured 20 schools from across the Texas division. LSU was the only school to feature three teams in the championship. Tim Morris and Tad Murdock placed 5th on the 2nd day weigh-in earning a spot in the final 5 team field. More importantly they earned a spot in the FLW National Championship that will be held this spring. Tim and Tad were able to move up to 4th place on the final day. Earning the club $3,750 and the university $1,250. Tim and Tad are the first LSU team to earn a spot in the FLW Championship with their effort.

Last weekend the LSU Fishing Team competed in the 2nd annual Bassmaster College Classic. The event was held on Sunday on Lake Verret and the weigh-in was on the Bassmaster Classic stage. LSU sent three two man teams: Logan Mount, TJ Goodwyn, Travis Laurent, Mason McCain, Doug Greenman, and Doug McClung. Alabama brought 20lbs 2oz to the scales with 9 fish out of a possible 15. LSU was able to trump that weight with 28 lbs weighing in 13 fish. The expereince was awesome for the whole team and we would like the thank everyone who came out and showed their support for the team. Our next tournament is in March on Toledo Bend and hopefully we will qualify more teams to compete in the FLW National Guard College Fishing Regional Tournament. LSU already has 2 teams in the tournament and we would like to get as many as possible into the event. Again thanks to all who wished us luck in the College Classic and thanks for you support. - Logan

This past weekend Tad Murdock and Tim Morris competed in the FLW College Fishing Tournament at Choke Canyon, Texas. The team placed 5th in the tournament winning $1,500 for our bass club and more importantly qualifying for the 2011 FLW College Fishing Regional Tournament. This is the third straight year LSU will be sending a team to the regional tournament, and we hope to send even more teams to the tournament. Also upcoming is the Bassmaster Classic, which will be held on the Louisiana Delta. LSU will be competing against the Alabama Fishing Team in the second annual College Classic which will be held on the final day of competition of the actual Classic. LSU is very excited to be given the opportunity to compete in this event. The team members that aren't fishing will be at the fishing expo so be sure to come down to New Orleans and support our LSU Fishing Team. GEAUX TIGERS!!!

On December 20th the LSU Fishing team held its first "New Member" Qualifying Tournament. Seven teams competed for three open spots on the LSU Fishing Team and a chance to fish next year. The even was held on Toledo Bend and weigh-in was at Cypress Bend in Many, LA. Harsh conditions rolled in the day of the tournament as a strong south wind blew making fishing a little more difficult for the anglers. However, the fish cooperated and teams were able to catch some nice bags. The top three finishing teams were:

1st. Jordy Bloodsworth & Jacob Draffen - 20lbs 9oz
2nd. Tad Murdock & Beau Hadskey - 12lbs 4oz
3rd. Drew Coleman & Bryan Coleman - 10lbs 4oz

These three new teams will now be part of LSU Fishing and will compete next year. We are happy and proud of our new members and would like to thank everyone who competed in the "New Member" Qualifying Tournament. We will have a tournament next year so that more teams will be able to join our team. We are also looking forward to the upcoming season of College Fishing and hope to build on our success from last year. Geaux Tigers and Merry Christmas!!!

Last weekend LSU was represented by two teams at the FLW College Fishing Texas Regional held on Sam Rayburn in Texas. Both the teams of Blake and Logan as well as Doug and Travis competed in the event. On the first day of competition Doug and Travis caught 4 fish weighing 13 lbs and 6 oz. Anchoring the teams bag was a nice 6 lb bass. This sack put the team in 6th place. Blake and Logan, however, struggled and didn't bring any fish to the scales. On day two Doug and Travis were able to catch 6 fish weighing 13 lbs and 5 oz. They stayed in 6th place and missed the Top 5 cut by 5 ounces. Blake and Logan were able to catch them better on day two and brought in a 5 lb fish and well as a 3. The tournament was tough for the team and disappointing for Doug and Travis but there is always next year. Any new members that would like to join the team in the fall we will be having another "New Member Meeting" very soon to discuss the qualifier so be sure to keep a look out for that.

Earlier this month Travis and Doug traveled to Little Rock to fish the Under Armour College Bass tournament on the Arkansas River. After the first day of the tournament, they caught 10.78 lbs and were sitting in 2nd place. Due to high water on the river, the second day of the tournament was moved to Maumelle. They really caught them and if not for a dead fish the team would have taken over sole posession of 1st place. Instead the team was tied with Northwestern State with a two day total of 20.27 lbs. After the second day the weights were zeroed. The third and final day the tournament was again moved to a Brewer Lake, which is known to hold better fish. LSU wasn't able to catch enough to win the tournament but caught 6.74 lbs enough for a 5th place finish. This tournament just continues LSU Fishing's success this year. In October Doug and Travis as well as Logan and Blake will be fishing in the FLW College Fishing Regional Tournament held on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Hopefully the both teams will be able to finish in the Top 5, move on to the National Championship and continue LSU Fishing's success this year.

This past Saturday Travis and Doug placed 2nd at the FLW College Fishing tournament held on Toledo Bend. The two boated a 6 fish limit of 17.05 lbs. In doing so the team qualified for the FLW College Fishing Regional Tournament. The regional tournament is taking place on Sam Rayburn in November. All in all LSU will be sending two teams to the regional tournament. Blake and Logan were the first LSU team to qualify for the Regional tournament back in January for their 2nd place finish at Falcon Lake. With their 2nd place finish Travis and Doug were able to win $5,000 with $2,5OO going to the university and $2,500 going to our club. Also fishing in the event were Mason and Doug G. and they finished in 17th place with 2 fish for 3.11 lbs. Next month the College Bass National Championship will take place in Arkansas. Also later this summer we are going to have our "New Member" Qualifying event. This will be held for all prospective new members. We will take the top three finishing teams to join our tournament fishing team. We have yet to decide a location or date for the event but keep checking the site for the announcement.

Congratulations to Doug and Travis for placing first in our first ever Club Qualifying event on Toledo Bend. The two ended up catching 5 fish for 17.03 lbs. Their finish earned the them a place in the FLW National Guard College Fishing Tournament on June 19th on Toledo Bend. Also qualifying for the tournament were Mason and Doug G. The team finished in second place with 5 fish for 15.05 lbs. The full results from the Club Qualifier are posted below:

Place Team #/Fish Weight

1st Doug M/Travis 5 17.03

2nd Mason/Doug G. 5 15.05

3rd TJ/Caleb 4 11.20

4th Logan/Blake 5 9.45

5th Rhine/Brett 2 3.45

6th Tim/Spencer 0 0.00

Hopefully both teams that we send to the FLW tournament will place in the Top 5 so that they can qualify for the FLW Regional tournament in November on Sam Rayburn. As of now Blake and Logan are the only team qualified for the FLW Regional. Other than the FLW tournament later this month, the College Bass Championship is taking place July 8-10th in Arkansas. Based on their finish in our Club Qualifier Doug and Travis will be the team that travels to Little Rock in July. Keep checking back for results and reports of the summers upcoming tournaments. - Logan

The BoatU.S. Collegiate National Championship was a tough tournament for Blake and myself. We had a really good practice and thought we had the fish figured out. The tournament didn't turn out like we expected it too. We had 10.59 the first day and mysteriously two fish died on us at the end of the day and we were docked a pound for the dead fish penalty. The second day we ran the same pattern that we did on the first day and Blake got a good fish early and we were only able to pick up one other 14 incher the rest of the day. We only brought 7.05 to the scales on Day 2 for a total weight of 16.64. We ended up in 45th place out of 133 boats. It wasn't the tournament we wanted to have but it was a learning experience and learned a lot about Lake Lewisville. On June 6th we are have our first ever Club Qualifier on Toledo Bend to determine who will fish in the FLW College Fishing event on June 19th. All our guys are looking forward to the qualifier and I know it will be a fun time for everyone. I will be sure to post another report next weekend after the qualifier. - Logan

School is just a few weeks from being over and LSU anglers are looking forward to some upcoming tournaments. From May 25th to May 28th the BoatU.S Collegiate Fishing Championship is going to be held on Lake Lewisville in Texas. All events will be held at Sneaky Pete's on the shores of Lake Lewisville. Hopefully LSU will be sending two teams to compete in the event. Later this summer LSU will host its first ever qualifying tournament on Toledo Bend. The qualifying event will determine the LSU teams that will fish in the June 19th National Guard FLW College Fishing tournament held on Toledo. We also found out that the National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional tournament will be held on Sam Rayburn Reservoir in November. As of now, Blake and Logan are the only team that has qualified for the the tournament. Blake and Logan placed 2nd in January at Falcon Lake boating 28.13 lbs of bass. Hopefully after the Toledo Bend qualifying tournament we will have a few more teams qualify for the regional tournament. We will continue to post updates throughout the summer. - Logan

First of all I would just like to congratulate Joe Landry and Zach Caudle from LSU-Shreveport for their win on Lake Tyler and second consecutive win in the College Bass West Super Regional. They jumped from an 8 lb deficit on day one to win. Those guys can flat out fish. Our two teams we sent did their best but came up short of a Top 5 finish. Mason and Doug caught 14.12 lbs on day two to jump to 12th place. Blake and Tim also did better on day two catching 9.39 lbs to jump a few spots to 25th. From talking to the guys it wasn't a matter of catching fish, it was a matter of finding big fish. I'm still proud of the guys for the effort for not being able to pre-fish they did quite well. The next tournament is the BoatU.S. Collegiate Bass Championship on Lake Lewisville hopefully we will be able to send two teams to the even but will defiantly send one team. The full results from the West Super Regional are posted below. - Logan

The site is finally up and looks awesome. This year has already been good to LSU Fishing. Back in January Blake and myself got 2nd place at Falcon Lake winning $5,000. The money that we earned in the tournament went into getting new jerseys and paying for this website. Two weeks ago Doug and Travis went to Alabama to fish in the College Bass East Super Regional which was held on the Alabama River. The two boated 21.82 lbs over two days and came in 16th. This coming up weekend is the College Bass West Super Regional that is on Lake Tyler in Tyler, Texas. We are sending two teams and hopefully will do well. I will post a report on monday after the tournament. - Logan
